A symptom does not exist on its own, independent of the human being. We cannot say, oh, there’s a rash, let’s treat it. If we do this, then we overlook the potential to really cure the person because we would not be looking for the root cause of the problem. We have to understand why the rash has come. If we just eliminate the rash by using a strong cream, the rash may go, but the underlying cause will remain, and in the future, it can come back, possibly even worse.

Similarly, a problem with the kidney or liver or a mental/emotional problem also cannot be viewed independently of the entire person. We cannot simplify and say take this medicine or that medicine for the particular symptom. We need to understand the cause and eliminate it. In this way, we will be treating the whole person and providing a cure. A band aide approach to the problem will never cure the patient.
